Celebrating National Nursing Assistants Week
In honor of National Nursing Assistants Week, June 14-21, we celebrate our 2,588 Nursing Assistants serving Benchmark communities.
We are proud of these associates who are Called to Care. Your empathy, professionalism and commitment is an inspiration to us all.
Three of these associates received special recognition at this year’s 16th Annual Awards Gala.
Kim Flanagan, Resident Care Associate at The Village at Mariner’s Point, accepted the prestigious Service Champion Award. When a resident who did not have family support was close to passing away recently, she displayed her compassion by asking to work overnight. Fellow associates arrived early the next morning to Kim holding the resident’s hand and speaking quietly to him.
“I could not stand the sight of a man dying alone after 95 years of life,” Kim says.
Despite personal and family obligations, which includes caring for a young child with autism, she is always willing to help a colleague or supervisor.
Out of hundreds of nominations, Norrett Burnett, Resident Care Associate at Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull, received the Compassionate Caregiver Award. Residents and families regularly recognize her observation skills, intelligence and unparalleled compassion.
Along with exhibiting a high standard of care, Norrett is always “connecting to what matters” by learning residents’ likes and dislikes.
Chlea Bynoe, Lead Front Desk Receptionist at The Falls at Cordingly Dam, who is also a Resident Care Associate, also appeared on stage at Gala as a Compassionate Caregiver finalist. Her passion and commitment to caring for residents shines through every day.
Thank you, Kim, Norrett, Chlea and all Benchmark Nursing Assistants, for transforming lives through human connection.
