Introducing the Benchmark Financial Concierge Program
To determine funding for senior care, seniors and their families often struggle to discover and navigate a maze of federal, state and private options. Adult children frequently don’t know their parents’ financial situation, and many have the misconception that living in a Benchmark community is unaffordable.
For those reasons and more, Benchmark is introducing what we believe to be an industry first: the Benchmark Financial Concierge Program along with a dedicated resource to spearhead the program. The program is designed to help seniors and families make informed decisions with expert guidance from a single, reliable source – Benchmark.
The program is led by Linda Amir, in a new position as Benchmark’s director of senior care financial solutions. In addition to the Financial Concierge Program, Linda is developing complementary programs, including a referral resource center, to help our seniors and their families.
The program is delivered in partnership with Elderlife Financial Services, the nation’s leading senior financing and solutions company. Elderlife provides Benchmark with dedicated financial counselors and is already working with several families in our Benchmark communities.
“The financial landscape is increasingly challenging for prospective residents and their children,” says Vice President of Sales Jennifer Dixon. “So, recognizing that people need help and then providing that resource is how we Elevate the Human Connection when it comes to financial needs.”
“With the concierge service, families will be able to book an appointment with an elder resource financial counselor right from our community,” says Executive Director Christine Brooks of Benchmark Senior Living at Forge Hill. “This will make it much easier for the families, and it will expedite the move-in process.”
“Working through the challenge of accessing VA benefits is another essential part of the program,” says Linda Amir. “Over 60% of veterans and their spouses are unaware they qualify for benefits, and many believe they are ineligible for benefits if they have more than $80,000 in assets.” To overcome these perceptions, Benchmark has expanded its partnership with Elder Resource Benefits Consulting, a VA benefits specialist, to serve all our communities.
“Ideally, the Financial Concierge Program will decrease financial issues and allow more seniors to move into our Benchmark communities with confidence sooner than they thought was at first possible,” Linda says.
Live training on the new program for executive directors, directors of community relations and sales is underway. Directors of business administration will attend a one-hour webinar this month.
