Introducing Benchmark Signature Dressing
After months of experimenting, Vice President of Culinary and Dining Guy Hemond and his dining staff are happy to introduce “Benchmark Signature Dressing.”
This delightfully distinctive dressing blends the flavors of Catalina and zesty Italian dressings with notes of garlic and horseradish. The flavor is topped with a fresh and savory aroma, and, especially for our memory care residents, the dressing’s vivid red/orange color makes every salad more enticing.
“Our sense of sight, taste and smell work together to stimulate our appetite and enhance the pleasure of eating,” says Guy. “Because these senses weaken with age, our culinary team is constantly working on ways to help our residents enjoy their meals more.”
To the best of our knowledge, Benchmark is the first senior living company to create its own dressing.
At Benchmark Senior Living at The Commons in Lincoln, Mass., Senior Director of Dining Services Todd McGovern strives to enhance the sight, taste and smell of all his kitchen’s dishes. “The great thing about this dressing,” he says, “is that it hits all three senses. Plus, it’s low in sodium and calories.”
The new dressing is the second “signature” item in the Benchmark dining flavor arsenal: The culinary team introduced Savory Sensation Salt Substitute in 2011 for our residents. “We created it as part of our commitment to heart-healthy dining,” says Todd. “It’s a delicious alternative for residents on low-sodium diets.”
