‘Happy Trails’ to Fran Rybicki

‘Happy Trails’ to Fran Rybicki

Fran Rybicki and her husband, Jerry, now have more freedom to indulge their passion for the outdoors by exploring our national parks, biking and spending time at their lake house in Maine.

Sounds less like an official retirement and more like the start of a wonderful new adventure! Nevertheless, Fran officially says goodbye to us this month, and those who’ve worked with her are sad to see her go but happy for the joy ahead.

Fran joined Benchmark in 2004 as a resident care director at Chelmsford Crossings. Within two years she advanced to divisional director of harbor services. She then served as senior resident care operator and resident care specialist before taking her most current position as regional director of resident care. In all these roles, Fran contributed to raising our standards for high-quality care.

In her 14 years at Benchmark, Fran enjoyed helping associates learn and grow in our communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

“Fran is one of the most compassionate, passionate resident advocates I know,” says Senior Vice President of Quality Resident Services Allison Melahouris. “She always put the residents first and went above and beyond to ensure they had what they needed. Fran has also been an excellent trainer and often would be found in a community training associates on care delivery or just simply getting our systems right. She quietly did this on days-off or weekends to make it more convenient for our associates. It has been a great pleasure to serve with Fran, and I want these next years to bring her all the happiness she deserves. Thank you, Fran. We couldn’t have accomplished all we have without you!”

Beyond Benchmark, Fran strongly advocated for modernizing public policies surrounding senior living communities, testifying twice at the Massachusetts State House to “let nurses be nurses” and provide more advanced care to senior living residents. The Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (Mass-ALA) recognized Fran with its first Public Policy Advocate Award in 2016 for her tireless work

In addition to exploring national parks, Fran and Jerry plan to play an active role in the lives of their three children and four grandchildren living in Denver, San Francisco and Seattle. They also plan to visit their large family across Canada.

Please join us in extending our gratitude and best wishes to Fran for her years of dedication and service to our residents, families and associates!
