Ashland Farm Celebrates 100th Birthday of World War II Veteran
Lieutenant Frank Korycki oversaw maintenance of the Army Air Corps airfields in Okinawa. On his 27th birthday, an atomic bomb detonated over Hiroshima. Seventy-three years later, Ashland Farm at North Andover celebrated Frank’s 100th birthday.
“The residents adore Frank,” says Program Director Maura Woods. “They love asking how he got to be 100 and getting the same answer: ‘Eating five different cereals a week with different fruits mixed in.’ They relish Frank’s old stories about North Andover and Lawrence. And I think seeing Frank participate in the activities, including exercise, gives residents an extra incentive!”
