Catching a Ride on the Cool Snow Taxi
When Winter Storm Niko hit the Benchmark world on Feb. 9, Executive Director Dennis Murphy of our Waltham Crossings community went on the road with his “snow taxi” to make sure an important record didn’t get broken. Other than an injury last year, Andril Das, front left, has a consistent 17-year attendance record. A dishwasher since 2000, Andres, who is 81, “shows up every snow storm and even stayed over for three nights in a row a few years back in a blizzard to make sure he was at work,” Dennis said. While Andril and his friends – servers Dady Cherilus, Kendra Noel and John Causland; dishwasher Jonnel Santi; and RCAs Sosamma Baby and Leanne Baptist – were being taxi-ed in, the department head team cleaned off every associate’s car before they left to go home. Associates who couldn’t go home in the storm enjoyed pizza and setups to sleep comfortably. Now that’s personal service even Uber can’t offer. Way to go, Dennis and team!
